Presentation
We introduce a House Computer System, developed in collaboration with Centre of Real Time Computer Systems at Kaunas University of Technology. The centre has been performing scientific research in the area of high-tech house since 2003.
As technology and equipment are continuously improving, the traditional home wiring and control solutions are no longer able to meet the ever-growing cultural, technical, and comfort needs. These needs are satisfied by the House Computer System that raises the comfort of home to the next level, ensures the comfort and security and provides the tools to effectively manage energy resources. In 2009 the House Computer System was awarded the innovation prize in the Lithuanian innovative product category.
Task of the system is to meet the needs of each user, to provide a possibility for each new house to have a high-tech intelligent control system.
As a result, we can guarantee high reliability, high functionality at very competitive ratio of price and quality. Control is freely programmable and can be easily modified, supplemented or reprogrammed. The system can be filled with new functions and devices without any inconvenience.
Developed comfort of the system involves a pre-designed housing control software programs, e.g. morning, evening, departure, rest, watch TV, guest reception, imitation of host existence, etc. High lighting control possibilities enable simulating of lighting programs and implementing the boldest ideas of interior designers.
The system provided security. The system not only facilitates the management of equipment, but also provides housing security. The system smartly “communicates” with the traditional system of protection equipment: after the alarm signal is received, the system activates the building ambient lighting and other necessary equipment. Upon leaving all unnecessary equipment is switched off by one button, house is prepared for the program of host existence imitation, owners are informed about all events by SMS messages.
The system provided energy efficiency. Optimal and most cost-effective heating operation mode is guaranteed thanks to the adaptive algorithm. Heating operation mode allows savings of up to 30 per cent of thermal energy. The management principle of “use to the appropriate extent” provides the opportunity to save electricity costs up to 40 per cent, the effect is achieved by adjusting lighting, air conditioning and ventilation in such a way, that it would always meet the user’s needs. Our system allows capturing the quantity of consumed energy resources, logging, analysis, viewing history.
The system provided management flexibility. Our system maintains the exceptionally large number of terminal management devices such as a PC, LCD panel, remote control, pocket PC, TV menu, remote control capabilities via Internet, ensuring secure access to the system.
Simplicity of system installation and expansion. The system is adapted to install not only in houses being built, when preparatory works (cable wiring for sensors, regulators and controllers) are necessary, but also in already built houses, when control information among system modules is transmitted wirelessly and all that is a common system, which can be expanded by new functions without cable wiring.
System compatibility with Multimedia. Our system is adapted for integration with digital interactive TV, a digital set-top box can be used to manage our system. This set-top box can also play MediaCentre functions.
System versatility. Our system gives you a wide choice of peripheral equipment and terminal controllers according to various criteria – price, functionality, reliability, design, etc. This is achieved by inter-aligning several control protocols, which are supported by the main controller of our system.
